Cinthya Poulina
My name is Cinthya Poulina and I was born October 5th 1980 on a very small but nice Island called Curacao in the Caribbean. If I have to describe myself I would say: Sweet, Funny, Intelligent, Loving, Forgiving, Patient, Caring, Stubborn, Smart, Athletic, Hard working, Confident, and very Energetic. I guess everybody knows me as the fun going Salsa Teacher. My passion is dancing especially when it comes to dancing Salsa. I love meeting new people, and hope to meet everybody that shares my passion.
I have been dancing Salsa since I was 21 years old. I started Salsa by taking private lessons from a friend of mine. I am a fast learner and I wanted to learn Salsa fast and didn’t have the patience to go to a dancing school. I only took 10 lessons and from there everything I know, I learned it on the dance floor until I started dancing with Matanza of course. I think the best way of improving yourself is to like what you are doing and dancing at lots of parties.
One year after I started dancing, I started to assist in giving workshops and beginners classes. I liked that so much that after a while I started giving classes and workshops myself. I have been doing that for almost 6 years. I like giving workshops because its fun and I love to bring over my passion to other people. Every time I saw other people performing at a Salsa Congress I thought, I want to do that one day. I want to be on stage on day.
Matanza is actually the first show group that I joined. I think this is the best way to improve yourself even more if you think that you have come to a point where you are not learning anything anymore. Since I have been dancing with Matanza I improved myself even more. Why Matanza…???….Matanza inspired me after I went to see them practicing one day. I liked to people in the group, the atmposphere and I loved their choreography called “En Africa”. I also looked up other shows of Matanza on the internet and I liked their style. Giving show and performing on stage give me so much energy especially the people who are there to cheer for you. We as a group (Matanza) are all very good friends and we have lots of fun together. We have a common goal and that is to help each other to become internationally known and to be the best.
