Gabriel Mambi
Hi my name is Gabriel (Gabi) Mambi, one of the founders of MaTanZa. I was born on Curaçao N.A. on May 21st a lot of years ago, from a Curaçaolean father and a Dominican mother. This personal characteristic is one of the aspects that has contributed to the fact that nowadays I am a great salsa/mambo lover.
When I moved to Holland in the early 90’s, I started to realize why my parents just loved to hear and dance salsa, montuno, bachata, cha cha cha etc. My interest in dancing Latin music started to grow. As a Curaçaolean you already have the feeling for rhythm within you. Friends and family helped me with the basic steps of the L.A. style. Later on when the New York style, also called Mambo on 2, became hot, I started to get more and more affinity with this style. After experiencing different dancecompanies I decided together with a friend of mine to start our own Danscompany, MaTanZa, which I am proud to present to you by means of this website.
MaTanZa is not just a dancecompany. The bonds that unify MaTanZa go beyond that; they are bonds of friendship, sincerity, positivism and trust. For me MaTanZa is a way of expressing myself, shape my ideas and share them with others.
